The international media has always been somewhat critical of the yearly World Economic Forum's meeting, taking place in Davos, Switzerland. Influential and wealthy people and country representatives meet there each year, but as compared to what they talk about and to what they plan to do, little is usually put into practice. The conference in 2011 made no exception. While most financial conferences have no connection whatsoever to the students in finances, there are some exceptions to this rule. For instance, in 2010, the McGill Investment Club announced the club's Third Annual Toronto Finance Convention (TOFC). One of the only two student-run conventions in Canada, the McGill conference was designed to bring together the top industry professionals and some of the top McGill students. Apparently, this goal was achieved successfully. Also, very few people are aware of the fact that one of the most important annual gatherings of senior retail bankers is a convention known as The Asian Banker Excellence in Retail Financial Services program. So far it had closed door meetings for the heads of retail banks, it focused on in depth case studies of award winning retail banks. Also, in 2010 there were some Tactical sessions where workshop leaders shared the most important case studies of banks on relevant key areas.
